More than reacting: perceiving beforehand
Self-defense doesn't start with the strike. It starts with awareness of your surroundings, posture, breathing and the ability to stay clear-headed under pressure. Martial training builds these foundations progressively, with technique and responsibility.
Goju Ryu works on stable stances, footwork, distance, breathing and control of one's own body. These fundamentals help practitioners recognize limits, avoid unnecessary escalation, and respond with more presence when a situation demands attention.
What's covered in training
- Body awareness, posture and balance.
- Distance, timing and footwork.
- Coordination, breathing and emotional control.
- Contact drills done with respect and progression.
- Discipline to act responsibly, not on impulse.
Responsible training
This is not a promise of invulnerability, nor a street-fighting course. The goal is to form more attentive, prepared and responsible practitioners, who understand when to avoid, ask for help, and preserve their own safety.
Classes take place at the Gairinkai dojo, Downtown Curitiba, as part of regular Karate-Do Goju Ryu practice. The first class is free so you can get to know the method and the environment.
