Gairinkai is the Association of the Outer Circle: a karate dojo in downtown Curitiba, open to anyone who wants to study the art with seriousness — at any age, body type or starting point.

The Dojo

Gairinkai

Karate-do wa rei ni hajimari, rei ni owaru.

Karate-Do begins with respect and ends with respect — this is where the dojo starts from.

Gairinkai was founded to welcome those who don't fit traditional molds, whether for philosophical, health or body-type reasons. Here, Karate-Do goes beyond technique: everyone trains, without distinction, seeking their own truth.

It is not a space without rules: it is a space where discipline is built through mutual respect — not through fear or imposition.

Karate respects the practitioner: it is the person who shapes the training, not the other way around.

Joetsu Narita

5th Dan · Vice Director Seigokan Brazil — National Referee CBK

Narita Sensei leads the tatami with patience: he sees the potential in each student and develops it without judgment or comparison.

In Goju Ryu, he first trained with Shihan Leonardo Carion — National Director of Seigokan, whom he describes as a father — in Rio de Janeiro in the mid-1980s. He then went to Japan as a disciple of Shinsaku Murata and Seigo Tada Sensei, the latter being a direct disciple of Chojun Miyagi.

His journey in Japan also included Kancho Masaya Kohama, founder of Shobukan and a world reference in Shotokan Karate; Aldo Sensei, pioneer of karate in Paraná; and the Monk and Sensei Akeshi Sueyoshi, founder of Rakuyukai and Kobudo master.

Beyond these masters, Sensei Narita is trained in Joshimon Shorin-Ryu under Sensei Ishizuka and practiced Wado-Ryu with Senseis Maeda, Sakurai and Ota. Sensei Narita is also a master of Acupuncture and Seitai.

Bringing this background to the tatami, he integrates multidisciplinary knowledge into karate practice — always with respect for tradition, but without losing sight of evolution and adaptation to the needs of today's practitioners.

The star of Gairinkai is not the sensei — it is the concept of an open, inclusive and respectful space for everyone.
